Just look at these pictures of pregnant Amee. She is beautiful is she not! Pregancy fits well on Amee. Well let me tell you the story so far. It was a Thursday evening. I had just come home from church and was standing in the Kitchen. Amee had gotten home too and I was just standing there wondering what was for dinner. Little did I know what was on the menu. Amee loves sneak attacks. I am not kidding. She really loves sneak attacks. She loves to hide around a corner, wait till an unsuspecting victim walks by (usually me) and then scream and pounce. So unsuspecting me, wanting to know what was for dinner hers, "soooooo I took a pregnancy test this morning." It totally took me off guard. The way she said it I knew it wasn't some passing comment. How could that comment be passing anyway. "And" she continued, "It was positive." What! I couldn't believe it. "Don't get excited" she insisted, "I only took two tests." What?. "They were the tests that have a positive if you are pregnant and a negative if you are not and they were over 6 months old so they may not be accurate." She didn't want to get her hopes up, but I was sure after two positive plus's. Right there in the middle of the kitchen, I put my arms around my wife and cried I was soooo happy. Not one of those girlie cries, one of those manly cries. You know the ones where just a few tears came out. That's my story and I am sticking to it!
That was six months ago. We are three months away from the due date, May 18, and gearing up. I have read at least three large pregnancy books and have a few more on my shelf. To date, Amee has had a very good pregnancy with no complications. The baby is healthy and strong. In fact two nights ago when I put my ear to Amee's belly, that little bugger kicked me right in the head. I'm telling you that has to be my kid. We soon begin the baby classes and really gear up for baby's arrivial. We have decided to be totally clueless in regards to whether it is a boy or girl so your guess is as good as mine.
See ya'll again soon.

Ireland

<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_nLT-0ubbgVo/SZjV8c_pSmI/AAAAAAAAAC8/RMLdT491TKc/s320/Ireland+trip+127.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5303223795780766306" />
<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_nLT-0ubbgVo/SZjV2QAA5BI/AAAAAAAAAC0/HC2vpz6mCFc/s320/Ireland+trip+114.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5303223689213436946" />
<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_nLT-0ubbgVo/SZjVqsK2nEI/AAAAAAAAACs/hWIPmjYopAA/s320/Ireland+trip+035.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5303223490616663106" />
<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 240px; height: 320px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_nLT-0ubbgVo/SZjViKltC6I/AAAAAAAAACk/q1uh-fQwq_g/s320/Ireland+trip+005.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5303223344163523490" />
<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_nLT-0ubbgVo/SZjVcfTsK6I/AAAAAAAAACc/ZojxQi3YnUE/s320/Ireland+trip+041.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5303223246645898146" />
So Facebook has deterred me for quite a while, but I realized that Amee's friends wantto know what we are up to as well so here we go. We had an awesome 2008. Our last post was all about our vacation to Prince Edward Island. Since last summer we have had two major events. This post is about our trip to Ireland. We are invited to join a group of clergy from our diocese to visit our companion diocese of Down and Dromore in Northern Ireland.
This really was a trip of a lifetime. We began our visit with good friends of ours Tom and Kathleen trees and left a few days before we were supposed to be at our first engagemnet and went to Dublin for two days. really one afternoon and one whole day. So the first evening we went to a local pub for dinner and guiness. The next day we bought tickets for a hop on hop off bus that did guded tours around the city center. We saw such sights as the guiness brewerey, the Jameson distillery, the Claremont hotel (Owned and operated by U2), a couple castles, Trinity college, the he'pennery bridge, O'Connell street, and a very touristy dinner with music and Irish Dancing.
Then we meet with our group and began our tour of the diocese. Amee and I stayed with a clergy family in a little suberb of Belfast called Carrowdore. We visited the Palace at Armagh (the traditional home of the Arch Bishop of Ireland.) we visited the church at Saul where St. Patrick started his first church in Ireland and then went on to the cathedral of Downpatrick where it is believed that St. patrick buried along with St. Brigid and St. Columba.
We finished the trip with a four day conference in the northwest beach town of Donegal. Donegal is famous for its wool and tweed. Amee bought a skeen of Donegal wool to make a baby blanket. We had an awesmoe 12 day trip, just look at the photos.

Prince Edward Island

<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://bp2.blogger.com/_nLT-0ubbgVo/SGTSyj1e5RI/AAAAAAAAABE/O6d3daxUvI0/s320/PEI+Vacation+015.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5216526034456732946" />
<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://bp2.blogger.com/_nLT-0ubbgVo/SGTSzLR8rII/AAAAAAAAABM/wLDR7bZvXpY/s320/PEI+Vacation+045.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5216526045045107842" />
<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://bp0.blogger.com/_nLT-0ubbgVo/SGTSzezxsLI/AAAAAAAAABU/MyEHMTigFeM/s320/PEI+Vacation+050.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5216526050287268018" />
What can we say about Prince Edward Island. We know that you do not want a long desription, but something concise and lasting. So here goes. The island is a paridse in the summer with red sand beaches beautiful, rolling pastoral landscapes and the ocean never far away. It is also the home of Anne of green Gables. We lived Annes life through visiting the real places she wrote about including green gables and Silver bush. We went to two musicals that chronicled Anne's Green Gables life and her love story with Gilbert Blythe. We also hiked, Biked, rode boats, fished, tried to eat the fish Rob caught, went to a Cailah(PEI's own version of a scottish bluegrass hodown, sat on the beach, visited lighthouses, ate lobster, shopped, went to a local church, saw where L. M. Montgomery was born, where she is lived and where she is buried, and we relaxed. The least thing we seemed to do was relax as Amee took us all around the Island (140 miles wide and 40 miles north south) we loved every minute of it and reccomend it to everyone. It is the second most beautiful place I have ever seen (Yosemitee valley is the first) but the most magical. You feel like you are in an L.M. Montgomery story just being there and somehow life is exactly what you always thought it could be. The best part is that we brought the magic back home with us and keep it in our hearts and our spirits. It was truly a blessed moment in our lives.

May Day! May Day

Ok, so it's almost halfway through may, but we have lots of good news. None of it is about having a baby though. Keep praying. First, Amee's broken arm is now fixed. She when through Surgery and three months of therapy, but she has graduated from therapy and is beating Rob with both arms now.
Second, we are 1 month away from vacation. We are spending two weeks on Prince Edward Island above Nova Scotia. It is the 100th anniversary of the publishing of the novel Anne of green Gables (Amee's favorite series growing up) and we are going to partake in the festival. All we have to do is get through a convention, a baccalaureate, a performance at our church by the covenant players, 8 churches gathering at our church for a confirmation service with our bishop and awesome Christian African leader Bishop Benjamin Kwashi of Jos Nigeria, an end of year BBQ for our children and youth ministry and all the ins and outs of theministry.
Third, As soon as we get back, Amee's sister and her family are coming for 4th of July then as they leave Amee's Borther's family is coming.
Fourth, after they leave, Rob goes to camp for a week to help out and help develop a Christian Leadership and discipleship camp for high school students.
Fifth, Amee's parents are coming for a week in early september.
Sixth, and totally awesome, Amee and I are going with our Bishop to a clergy conference in Ireland. This will be the first step in Amee and I leading a teen missions trip to Ireland every year for a Christian festival and missions program on the streets of belfast Ireland called Street reach.

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://ameerob.blogspot.com/2008/05/may-day-may-day.html' title='May Day! Yesterday was wonderful in that it was an awesome ending to a busy, meditative and holy week. We in the Anglican tradition celbrate Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, Easter Vigils and of course the Celebration of Easter. So why am I writing about emptiness? Well, it's not about the emptiness of a cookie jar or empty lives that pervase our culture. It's a totally diferent kind of emptiness. An emptiness that fills our lives to the brim. It's the emptiness of the Tomb! Christ is alive, let Christians sing. No longer do we have to go through life in a daze or wonder why even though we try to fill our lives with stuff we are still empty. In Christ is life to the fullest. That is why I am celebrating emptiness and I do so by emptying myself to God so that he may fill it with His Spirit. God bless one and all

Ice Skating Throw Triple Sow unsuccessful

<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://bp0.blogger.com/_nLT-0ubbgVo/R7pLV82BsJI/AAAAAAAAAA8/UDn5hXZhxJU/s320/Amee+broken+arm+004.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5168526362843132050" />
If you are ever in the Canadian capital of Ottawa in the winter and looking for some fun entertainment, every local will tell you to go to the Rideau Canal. What is the Rideau Canal. The Locals will tell you that it is 7.8 kilometers, not miles, of beautiful ice in which one can have awonderful time skating with family and friends. If the Longbottom's were telling you about the Rideau Canal, we would describe it as a death trap eagerly awaiting unsuspecting innocent americans in order to incapacitate their limbs. Oh yes the canal looksinnocent enough with it's 7.8 kilometers of uneven Ice, fresh water crocidiles, and the smatering of usable port-a-poties, but do not be fooled; it has the heart as black as the night.

On January 28th Amee and I went to Ottawa for an innocent day of fun ice skating, yummy chinese food and to take in the movie Juno. We were enjoying ourselves Ice skating. Both of us had had one fall a piece and were almost arriving at the halfway point, when Amee took a direct hit as she and Rob were attempting the elusive throw triple sow with a double toe follow up. She hit the ground and hit it hard. Rob had lost his concentration when he saw something shiny and naturally moved toward it. In an instant everything had changed. She heard it before she felt it, yet knew right away that something was wrong; terribly wrong. She could not get up or move her arm. In that instant of tragedy, Rob rose to the occassion by ignoring the shiny object lifting Amee in his Arm's and skated with her till they had found help. He dropped her off at the beaver tail stand and made a mad dash for the car. He only had to stop twice to catch his breath, wait in line to turn in his ice skates and drive the car to where Amee was located.

They drove back to Ogdensburg, without chinese food I might add, and went to the emergency room. We were refered to four orthopedic surgeons before one would agree to fix Amee's arm. She had a commenuted lateral fracture to her forearm right where it went into the elbow. This was a dicey and complicated surgery, but they had the right man; a Notre Dame Man. In Dr. Fatti's own words, Amee surgery was "Perfect". Now Amee is in her 3rd week of rehab and the Dr. and the PT say she is doing fantastic. We are all glad that she is healing so well. It will be a 6 to 8 month recovery time, but the Dr. believes Amee will just fine.

The Moral of our story is If Rob is your Ice skating partner, make sure ther are no shiny objects in the vacinity.

One Crazy week

<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://bp2.blogger.com/_nLT-0ubbgVo/R3O92GiNYyI/AAAAAAAAAAs/x4sD13g3gWk/s320/christmas+2007+2.bmp" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5148667536179290914" />
The following is the log of the ill fated week leading up to Christmas for one clerggy family.

Sunday Dec. 16th: Nor-Easter Hits the region. Emergency driving only insituted by police. This means that if you are on the road and the police see you they will ticket you. The only places open this Sunday are churches. Wouldn't you know it, our church has a grand total of about 40 people at both our services. there was a total of 18 inches of snow and No one got a ticket. We reviewed our emergency supplies for blizzard crisis and determined that we probably should h ave gotten at least batteries. Milk may not last the week.

Monday Dec. 17th: Nor Easter Continues all day. Amee and I are stuck at home and can not do our planned Christmas shopping. Rob begins work of shoveling snow only to have more fall all day. We are running out of milk. Amee works on christmas cookies

Tuesday Dec. 18th: The storm has subsided. Snow on the back porch deck up to chest level. Amee tries to go work only to find her car shakes whenever it goes above 30 mph. Rob visits shut ins to give christmas cheer. He is accosted by a gang of elderly thugs who try to maim him with kisses. Milk gone. Rob won't stop eating Amee's Christmas cookies that are meant as gifts for others.

Wednesday Dec. 19th: Rob takes Amee's car to garage for wheel balancing. Wheel balancing: $35, After completing the work Mechanic telling us the problem was with ice buildup around the tire rim and it could have been fixed with a hose; Priceless.
Snow begins to fall again. Cute weather girl predicts 6"s. Natives are restless without milk for brerakfast cereal. Amee beats Rob with rolling pin in order to keep him away from Christmas cookies.

Thursday Dece. 20th: Bible Study morning. Rob forgets to bring secret Santa gift and is otricized by fellow Christians. Rob Travels out into the country to visit a family who can not make it out of their home. Snow is falling and he is worried about getting stuck in the snow at a home with no roads. Good thing he has a two wheel drive toyota Echo that can handle light rainfalls. No thursday evening Bible study. We are going to a local nursing home and singing Christams Carols. The favorite carol for the evening was Grandma got run over by a reigndeer. It was obvious each resident was eying other residents as to whom they would throw under the sleigh. Amee hides christams cookies by putting them on top shelf where Rob is too short to see them.

Friday Dec. 21: Rob Visits nursing home in the morning and finishes bulletins for Christmas eve services. Amee close to dying of boredom at work due to lack of anything to really work on. She still manages to find work. Rob sits all afternoon at local bank hawking raffle calanders for his local rotary club. Due to stress of Christmas preparations, Rob briefly considers robbing bank, but does not want to get out of his seat due to laziness. Crisis at work causes rob to leave selling soul early and attend to something that really doesn't matter, but considered vital to national security by parishoners. Rob goes to Karate and fights imaginary parishoners. Warning: baking powder mixed with water may looklike milk, but is not really fit for human consumption. Rob Finds Christmas cookies. Takes one that is baited to a mouse trap and hurts left indexfinger badly.

Saturday Dec. 22: I have two words for you: Pageant rehearsal. Of the twenty Children slated to be in the play,three show up. Among those MIA are our two leads. Amee is now in Crisis mode and not sure whether or not she will get into her car and never come back. Amee and rob spend all morning and early afternoon helping get preparations completed so that everything is ready for the pageant even if no children show up. Rob ventures out looking for milk; finds cow and makes the best of it. Rob forced to stop his cookie hunting expedition due to death threats by amee.

Sunday Dec. 23: Pageant day is here. 9:00am, the time children are to arrive, only the three from the rehearsal are present. 9:15am two more children arrive. 9:35am Lead finally arrives. 15 minutes to start of service, 6 children present. 9:55am 10 children arrive at once. Service starts in 5 minutes. 10:05, service started, 3 more kids arrive. Knowing that the Pageant starts at 10:30, director decideds to do run through at 10:20. Beyond all understanding or reasoning, pageant actually begins when it is supposed to with cast of 25 and running relatively somethly. Highlights include an angel screaming at the top of her lungs, "Jesus is Born, Jesus is Born" Very Cute and one young shepherd walking around the church ignoring his part and the play altogether and raises his index finger to the sky and showing everyone that heis #1 and then giving all a thumbs up. Amee spends rest of afternoon swearing she willnever help with a Christmas pageant ever again. Rob cries after having to give away Christamas cookies. 3:00 pm Rob does funeral for a faithful member of church then spends the rest of the afternoon pampering the love of his life, Amee of course, and making dinner. After being attacked by amee, Rob breaks down and runs to the store and buys milk. All evening into the next morning it rains getting rid of about half our snow. Amee is very sad.

Monday, Dec. 24: Rob spends morning visiting shut ins and making sure final preparations are complete for Christmas eve services. At 1:oopm Rob finally finds time to do his Christmas shopping. Since we live in the middle of nowhere, the only place to shop is Walmart. Amee receives carmats and paper towels for Christmas. Miraculously extra christams cookies appear as a special gift from Amee to Rob. AWWWWWWWWWWWW. 5:00 pm our first service goes well with 120 attendees. Fr. Rob does children's sermon in which he polluttes water with strawberry syrup, chocolate syrup and ketchup and makes it pure again by pouring lots of fresh clean water into the glass then drinks the clear water. Turns out water is not so pure and Rob has quesy stomach for several hours. Amee prepares elegant dinner of smoked samon marinated in teriaki sauce. Midnight mass goes without a hitch and Rob and Amee are home at 1:30 am Christmas morning. No milk and christmas cookies needed as both fall over from exhaustion.

Tuesday, Dec. 25th: Christmas, Rob gets the book of Cooland Amee new fucia slipers. All is well. Our love this Christmas to all.

No one shot on M5 Hunting trip. An excellent time was had by all thanks to our gracious hosts in the Weaver clan.

We started our hunt Monday morning at 5:30am. We huddled together and all agreed to our credo, “If its brown, cut it down!” and “Semper Fi” We didn’t see much action until 11:30am when Weaver spotted a doe creeping out of the brush. He lifted his shotgun slowly and aimed directly at the deer’s knees, a misguided plan to take this young yearling down slowly- piece by piece. We all heard a shot ring out across the land followed by Weavers shrieks of frustration and humiliation as the deer that he shot leaped back into the brush joining the ranks of the other handicapped 2 ½ legged deer that Ryan has tagged this year. I was in another bluff carefully scanning the horizon from a WW1 western front style trench that I had dug the night before. Father Rob was simultaneously pushing the woods and singing an angelic homily when suddenly Weavers amputated yearling emerged as a bipedal warrior from the thick and charged my position. I quickly drew a bead on it's chest (scope-less at 50 yards) and heroically finished the job that Weaver started. Victory was ours as the dear fetus collapsed to the ground.

Later that day (4pm), RT and I set up camp in a remote forest hoping to add more deer to the M5 kill. RT positioned himself on a stand deep within the forest while I bunkered down on the edge of the forest looking out for deer emerging to feed at night. A half hour past and I decided that my massive pectoralis needed to be stretched. In doing so, an exceptionally large plume of testosterone emitted from my body which wafted into the forest, it potency frightening a large doe and her yearlings deep into the thick where RT was perched. RT spotted the clan running in his direction and slowly decided on which one to cut down. He pondered his decision, and as he was sizing them up through a heavily magnified scope, he spotted the larger one with several lactating teets. While many hunters would frown on such a decision RT knew that taking this mamma out would yield more venison poundage for the M5. He smiled, hacked a quick loogie, and pulled the trigger. The doe turned and bolted, its three yearlings, following closely behind. RT followed the trail of blood and found his prize streaming and incapacitated on the forest floor.

BIG thanks to Weaver and his family for making this adventure possible. I hope to see all you guys sometime soon. Maybe once you take a break from all this marathon breeding? I guess I should be proud that the M5 is single handedly correcting the birthrate decline in the old US of A. Very NICE.

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://ameerob.blogspot.com/2007/11/no-one-shot-on-m5-hunting-trip-all.html' title='No one shot on M5 Hunting trip. Amee traveled all the way across the country back to California for the wedding of the maid of honor at our wedding. The wedding was in Murphy's, CA almost exactly where fellow Mighty 5er Randy and his wife Lindsay were married a couple of years ago. She stayed at the same Bed and breakfast we stayed at before and loved it. Amee and Rob also took time to see the fall colors in the Adirondaks again. This year we took our mountain bikes and found an awesome trial near lake placid. We rode for about 2.5 miles when the reain overtook us and we began to head back. the views were georgous. Rob and Amee are leaving the day before thanksgiving to go to Detroit again to visit Amee's grandmother, 93 years old, for thanks giving. The day after, Rob is going to go to Ohio for a hunting trip with fellow Mighty 5ers Tim Holl, Ryan Moore and Ryan Weaver. I am told that I should stay our of Moore's way! So this is what we are up to these days.

Spring brings bird attacks

<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://bp2.blogger.com/_nLT-0ubbgVo/Rkin6f2HqxI/AAAAAAAAAAM/K0Y9NFYzgTQ/s320/karate+and+snow+036.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5064482404400868114" />
We haven't posted in a while because we have just been too busy in the outside world to pay much attention to this one. We finally got snow. A lot of snow, but not as much as towns to the south of us. However, once we got snow, it took too long to go away for Rob's taste.

But now there are signs that spring is finally here. The tulips have bloomed, the lilacs are ready to pop open and the birds are back. However, the birds seem to have gotten an attitude on their winter vacation. This new attitude has been revealed in two incidents so far.

First, while Rob was away at the Wineskins conference, Amee was just sitting in the den minding her own business when suddenly a bird flew out of the radiator. (Well, it seemed like the bird flew out of the radiator, it actually came through the hole in the floor that the radiator pipe comes through.) This was quite shocking. We have had a bird come in the open fireplace flu, but not in through the floor. How did the bird get into the basement to be able to come up through the floor in the first place?

Anyway, Amee was able to flee the room trapping the bird in the den. (I would like to say that she calmly walked out of the room and devised a plot to trap the bird, but alas, the truth is she ran screaming from the room slamming the door behind her and it was just pure luck the other door was shut.) With Rob out of town, Amee quickly called her friend Danielle in for help. The two of them got the bird to go outside, but Amee swears it is still stalking her.

Then, just the other day as Rob walked home from work, a whole 200 feet or so, a bird decided Rob's head was a nice place to relieve himself. Poor Rob was splatted right on the head. We have no proof that this was the same bird, but Amee thinks even if it wasn't the same bird, it smells like a conspiracy.

Despite the recent bird attacks, we are still having fun planning for our June camping trip to Maine. We bought our tent and put it up in our living room the other day. Yes, we were the crazy people with a 6-foot 6-inch tall tent in their house. But only for a few hours. We just hope the weather is tolerable by the time we go.

In other news, Rob won first place in his level at the Karate Tournament at the end of March. He beat out seven other guys in the yellow and green belt category to take home the big trophy. It is a really big trophy that has found a home on the top of our mantel in the den. Rob took it to church to show off to the Sunday School kids. They were not impressed however because he only has one trophy and they all have several.

Where's the Snow?

Big news! Due to St. John's failure to keep a vital condition of the contract between they and Fr. Rob, Rob and Amee are atempting to leave and move north for colder climates. The church promised snow and could not provide it. Therefore Rob and Amee have hired Dewy, Cheatum & Howe LLP to sue St. John's for breach of contract. We are seeking a $10 million settlement, of which the lawyers will receive $9,950,000 in legal fees. Which leaves us with $50,000. This, of course, is all Amee really wants anyway to pay off bills and have vacation money.

So what are we really doing? Didn't you hear: THERE IS NO SNOW! What is there to do with no snow? I am not kidding in saying that today, Sunday, Jan. 7, was probably warmer here than in Visalia, CA where we were before. Oh, by the way, there's NO SNOW!!!!! Amee is very sad, melencholey, distressed, and quite perplexed. Rob is jumping for joy over his good Luck.

So I am sure you are wondering how our Christmas went. Well, it was very quite for us as a couple, but very busy for the church. We had the first Christmas pageant in like 15 years here and it went over really well. The kids were so cute and Amee's stuffed sheep, Lambykins and Woollite, had starring roles as sheep. The pageant had a set and everything. It went very well. We had more than 250 people in church, which was 90 more than last year.

For Christmas, Rob got the "Band of Brothers" DVD series (Don't be hat'n guys). Amee got a new, very nice and stylish pair of figure skates so to start her very promising career as a skater. We are scheduled to skate the 6-mile Rideau Canal in Ottawa, Canada. That is if it ever snows.

Well, I guess that's all for now. We love and miss all you guys, but hey we have seasons and you don't, ha ha.

Hello all, we have been on vacation for the past two weeks in Dearborn, Mich., rooting on the Detroit Tigers and learning how to drive in Beirut. At least that is what it feels like driving in Dearborn. With the largest population of Arab Americans in the United States, Dearborn feels like Little Lebanon from all the Lebanese flags flying to the crazy way they drive.
Unfortunately, the Tigers lost their last five games. But at least they made it to the playoffs for the first time in 19 years. And we had fun at Comerica Park, eating hot dogs, popcorn, candy and Cracker Jacks.
The purpose of vacationing in Dearborn was so we could also visit Amee’s grandmother, her great aunt and her mother, the later whom flew out from California. We had a good visit, although Rob did get a little bored hanging out with a couple of ladies in their 90s. Amee has a high tolerance for boredom being from Bieber, Calif. Grandma and Auntie are the last two Polish ladies in their neighborhood. Now they are surrounded by Arabs, who have turned the fading old neighborhood into a new bustling suburb. Of course it all still hinges on Ford Motor Company’s prosperity. Some things don’t change.
As part of our adventures, sandwiched between chauffeuring the ladies to the supermarket and doctor appointments, we did make it out to Greenfield Village, part of The Henry Ford. While everyone is familiar with the Henry Ford museum which chronicles the history of the car, it might surprise you to know that Henry Ford collected other historical things, including Robert Frost’s house from when he lived in Ann Arbor, Mich, and Edison’s Menlo Park laboratory and the Wright Brothers bicycle shop. Greenfield Village is set up like a town straight out of the 1800s for the most part. You can take a ride on a steam engine train, an old bus, a Model T and a horse-drawn bus. You can also ride on a carousel from 1913. That is as old as Amee’s grandma. You also get to watch pottery makers, glass blowers and see an old-time press in action. It is really a fun place and we recommend a visit if you are ever in the area.
Our vacation was fun, but now it is back to work. We were happy to see upon our return home that the leaves are changing and the temperatures are dropping. Amee is excited that snow is just around the corner. Rob is hoping fall lasts a very, very long time.

Greetings from Ogdesburg, NY! We have been here for about a year now and we thought we would start sharing some of the cooler things about being on the East Coast. For instance, they put gravy on everything. Well, that isn't cool, but trust us it's noteworthy.
What is cool is the "buggy only" parking at Wal-Mart for the Amish. Who knew the Amish shopped at Wal-Mart? You should also see them drooling over the power tools at Lowes. They do make good cheese and comfortable furniture, though.
When people come to visit us here in upstate (and we mean upstate) New York and want to go to the city, we take them to Ottawa, Canada. We said upstate. Come on, it's Canada's capitol and it's only 45 minutes away. Oh, and in Canada they put gravy and cheese on their french fries. It's called poutine (poo-teen).
We are 30 minutes away from a world-class resort area called Alexandria Bay. Okay, so it was world-class in like 1910, but you know there are still castles and stuff. Rob has also found his favorite burger at a place called Brass Tacks. But, the real gem is the mini golf course, which was last renovated in 1910. There is no water in the ponds, the turf is almost dirt and one sad turtle sandbox lies beached on a rock underneath a bridge that crosses a dry "St. Lawrence." It is so sad it's really fun.
These are just a few of the interesting things we have found around here, there is everything from the truly great to the truly ... ummm ... unique. We hope this has whet your appitite and that you will look back often to see what we have been up to.
The photo, by the way, was actually taken at St. John's VBS this summer, just to prove that Rob has been working. He has turned the place into a circus, obviously. It didn't take as long as Amee thought it would.
Thanks for reading,
Amee and Rob
